New Partnerships Expand Duke's Presence in China: Duke forges two cooperative partnerships with the municipal government and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which will create new opportunities for education, research, and public service. Read more.
No matter how many times I travel to China and the surrounding areas to meet with multinational corporations, strategic partners, and alumni groups, I still find myself awestruck by the sheer populace of the region and its ever-expanding global economic importance. It truly is the land of the biggest-tallest-longest-fastest. There is no doubt that the region is a critical component of Fuqua's global expansion strategy.
We have long been engaged with the region through our Cross Continent and Global Executive MBA programs, alumni network, and diverse curriculum by offering exchange programs, Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE) elective courses and Global Consulting Practicums in Asia. These programs have provided students with the opportunity to internationalize their MBA experience. However, since our global launch in late 2008, we have been busy building an even stronger foundation in Asia so that we can genuinely become embedded in the region and help achieve our goal to become the world's first globally-distributed business school.
Our foundation will be built upon a robust professional network including local and national government, strategic partners, and an advisory board composed of leading executives in Asia. We are close to finalizing plans on many of these fronts, so please stay tuned for official announcements!
I am very excited to be leading Fuqua's efforts in Asia and I encourage you — whether you are a prospective student interested in one of our programs, a Fuqua graduate interested in getting involved, or a potential partner — to contact me. This truly is a momentous time at Fuqua as we build a global campus and strengthen our academic commitments in China and the surrounding area.
Best regards,

Two International MBA Options: Cross Continent and Global Executive
China and the surrounding areas have been part of Fuqua’s curriculum for some time. We offer two distinct internationally-delivered MBA programs: the newly redesigned Cross Continent MBA , a dynamic program for young professionals who wish to keep their jobs yet get a top-tier MBA, and the Global Executive MBA , a program designed for senior executives with global responsibilities. Both programs include in-depth academic residencies in China.
Additional International Options
Students in Fuqua’s Daytime and Weekend Executive programs also have international education opportunities. Asian programs are often the most popular of these electives.
- Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE): Students study the business, culture, economy, and politics of a country or region before traveling to the area studied. Students gain exposure to international businesses through visits to multinational corporations, local enterprises, government agencies, exchange program partner schools, alumni and others in the region. Visit the GATE page to learn more.

Weekend Executive students pose on the steps of the Shanghai Stock Exchange during a recent GATE trip.- Global Consulting Practicum (Daytime students only): The Global Consulting Practicum (GCP) is an elective course in The Duke MBA—Daytime enabling students to work in small consulting teams with faculty supervision. The students have the opportunity to learn about, visit, and engage with social entrepreneurs and businesses in developing countries. After initial research and preparation, students travel to the field for on-site consultation with their clients. Through this service-learning course, students gain an ability to recognize, critically assess, and contribute effectively to various forms of social enterprise as tools of poverty alleviation, economic development, and social transformation.
- Exchange Programs (Daytime students only): Fuqua maintains exchange relationships with 28 outstanding business schools around the world, including the following schools.
