The 19-month Duke MBA - Weekend Executive Health Sector Management (HSM) program starts in March and is comprised of six terms. After a one-week orientation, classes meet on alternating weekends on Fridays and Saturdays, with accommodations provided Friday nights. Sessions in the sixth term are held on campus for two weeks, with the remainder of the term completed online.
Students complete their core MBA courses with the general Weekend Executive class; they are separated from the larger class for HSM coursework.
Weekend Executive students may complete either a Health Sector Management concentration or a certificate:
- The HSM concentration requires the satisfactory completion of all MBA course requirements plus two required HSM courses, one additional health care-specific elective, and an HSM independent project.
- The HSM certificate requires that in addition to the HSM concentration requirements, students take two additional electives from an offering of onsite and archived online courses; these must be completed over the course of two additional years to avoid additional tuition.
